ASHFORD WAR MEMORIAL INSTITUTE
Built as a memorial to those of the village who fought in The Great War of 1914-1919 out of funds raised by local people. Construction of the building,which involved the demolition of a row of old cottages,was on land given by the Duke of Devonshire,and was opened by him on 28th September 1929. The Roll of Honour is displayed inside,and recently a Roll of Honour for those who served in the World War of 1939-1945 has been added.
Venue for events,meetings, classes and other functions, the Hall is managed by an elected committee,and membership is by voluntary annual subscription and is available for hire by local organisations or private groups or individuals.

ASHFORD ART GROUP
A small group that meets weekly on Tuesday afternoons between 1.00 and 3.30 pm,through late Summer to Spring. During Summer outdoor sessions are occasionally arranged,and near Christmas the group enjoys lunch at a local hostelry. The group meets at the Old School and is aimed at interested individuals, of all abilities, who enjoy painting and drawing,while chatting and having tea or coffee and biscuits,all for £1 per session.

ASHFORD CRICKET CLUB
Founded by 1841 the club plays in an idyllic setting alongside Mill Lane and has a fine modern pavilion. The club plays in the Mylnhurst Yorkshire & Derbyshire League on Saturdays, and midweek in the Longstone League and the Orme Shield competition. Friendly home games are played every Sunday afternoon throughout the season. Training sessions for years 1 to 6 are held on Sunday mornings from May through to July.
