ASHFORD-IN-THE-WATER PARISH COUNCIL Clerk: Mrs A J FoxDerwent Cottage, Calver Bridge, Calver, Hope Valley S32 3XATelephone: 01433 631689Email: angelafox@btinternet.com MINUTES OF THE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 4th OCTOBER 2016 IN ASHFORD SCHOOL Present: Cllr D Windle, Cllr R Akeroyd, Cllr B Taft, Cllr V Sidery, Cllr R Spinks,Cllr T Williams, Cllr H Froggatt (for part of meeting), Mrs A Fox (Clerk) 94.16 Apologies for Absence: Cllr A Hill, Cllr P Tillbrook, Cllr J Twigg 95.16 Declaration of Members’ Interests: None 96.16 To receive and approve requests for dispensations from members on matters in which they have a Disclosable Pecuniary Interest: None 97.16 Public Participation: Cllr Froggatt reported that the repair work and painting of the public conveniences will be taking place in the next 2 weeks. Cllr Froggatt also reported that the consultation on the closure of Newholme Hospital ends on 6th October. 98.16 Minutes of Parish Council Meeting held 6th September 2016: The minutes were proposed by Cllr Spinks as a true record, seconded by Cllr Williams and signed by the Chairman. 99.16 Confidentiality: None 100.16 Items reported by the Clerk: 55.16 3) Defibrillators: The Chairman confirmed that an article had been placed in the parish magazine. It was agreed that the Chairman would liaise with Dr Mundy with regard to organising a demonstration. 66.16 2) Public Footpath Maintenance: The Chairman reported that Sarah Heron had agreed to undertake the footpath maintenance and has been provided with a map and list of footpaths. Sarah was planning to commence this work during week commencing 10th October. 76.16 1) Trees on Vicarage Lane and Hall Orchard: The Clerk was requested to contact Dave Frost and ask him to contact the Chairman to arrange a site meeting to inspect the trees concerned. 77.16 1) Flood Committee Meeting: A Flood Committee Meeting had been arranged for Tuesday 11th October in the Old School commencing at 7.30 pm. An article had been included in the October parish magazine. 88.16 1) Request for Memorial Bench in Hall Orchard: Details awaited from Pennie Dixon of the style and preferred location of the bench. 88.16 3) Christmas Tree: Cllr Spinks confirmed that the Christmas tree would be arriving on 9th December. 89.16 a) Public Conveniences: Cllr Froggatt reported that the repair work and painting of the public conveniences should be completed within the next 2 weeks. 89.16 b) Trinity Cottage, Hill Cross: The Chairman reported that he had sent an email to the Peak Park Authority, who confirmed they had not received a planning application and that they would be arranging a site visit. A response is awaited. 100.16 1) Quotations for grass mowing 2017/18: It was agreed that a schedule of works would be drawn up and that the Clerk would arrange an advertisement in the next edition of the Peak Advertiser. 100.16 2) Request from Lillias Bendell to review Ashford parish council minutes: Mrs Bendell had made an official request to review copies of all parish council minutes. This was approved. The Chairman agreed to arrange a suitable date and time with Mrs Bendell. 100.16 3) Email from Mr Wilkinson re Road Bollards at Entrance to Ashford Village: The Clerk was requested to forward this email to Highways at DCC stating that the parish council is in agreement. 101.16 Items reported by Members: 101.16 1) Provision of cable covers/protectors in connection with Christmas tree: Cllr Taft agreed to investigate. 102.16 Planning Matters: 1) Application: Park House, Ashford Lane: The majority of the parish council do not feel that the constructions are in keeping with the character of a conservation area. 2) Application: Land at Horse Lane, Monyash: The parish council have no objection in principle to the development, but feel that an agricultural tie should be imposed. 3) Decision: Willow Cottage: Refused. 103.16 Financial Matters Bank Balances Noted:1) Business Reserve Account: £25,176.07Current Account: £250.00 2) To approve payments:

104.16 Correspondence: 104.16 1) Letter from P Christian re bus shelter on Ashford New Road: This letter reported that the bus shelter is covered in graffiti. Cllr Spinks agreed to obtain the appropriate cleaning agent and Cllrs Spinks and Williams agreed to remove the graffiti and clean the bus shelter. The Clerk was requested to respond to Mr Christian accordingly. 105.16 Date of Next Meeting: The November and December dates for parish council meetings were agreed as follows: Tuesday 8th November Thursday 15th December
